The innovation project CertifHy 'Designing the 1st EU-wide Guarantee of Origin (GO) scheme for Green Hydrogen'  is launching the CertifHy Webinars. The first one will be an opportunity for new and existing members of the CertifHy stakeholder platform as well as for everyone that is interested in Green Hydrogen Guarantee of origins to get up-to speed with the CertifHy project. Wouter Vanhoudt, CertifHy Project Coordinator HINICIO will introduce you to phase I and the current state of phase II of the implementation of the Green Hydrogen GO scheme.

The 1st Green Hydrogen Guarantee of Origins are on the market soon

The CertifHy project will launch first Green Hydrogen Guarantee of Origins (GOs) that will be available for sale EU-wide. CertifHy GOs provide information of the source of the product to the customers and allow hydrogen users to track the origin of the product very soon.

Four hydrogen producers including the industrial gas companies Air Liquide and Air Products, the chemical company Akzo Nobel, Air Products, the retailer Colruyt Group and the energy utility Uniper will have their production batches audited during this pilot. The corresponding GOs will be up for trade in April 2018.

EU-wide transferable GOs for renewable and low-carbon hydrogen create a new and transparent hydrogen market with a business case, enhance market pull and empower consumers. Do you want to be an early adopter?

Clarification on compliance with CertifHy Green Hydrogen criteria for FCH JU projects

At the request of many FCH JU stakeholders, the CertifHy consortium prepared an overview on how this compliance can be demonstrated.

How do I know if my FCH JU project meets the CertifHy  criteria?

The average carbon footprintof the hydrogen consumed in the project needs to be less than 91g CO2/MJ. To be calledGreen Hydrogen, the hydrogen needs to be produced from renewable energy sources and have a carbon footprintthat is below 36.4 gCO2equ/MJLHV. Low-Carbon Hydrogen is hydrogen produced from non-renewable energy with a carbon footprint lower than 36.4 g CO2/MJ. Grey Hydrogen is hydrogen produced with emissions higher than 36.4 g CO2/MJ, be it from renewable or non-renewable sources. Check using  the chart below if your project is compliant with the CertifHy  criteria.
